Robert (R.M.) Melton Ramseur, 83, of Morganton, NC, received his heavenly wings to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born on March 9, 1933 in Burke County to the late Melton Ramseur and Ruth Mull Ramseur. He was a member of Maple Grove Holiness Church and attended Gaston Chapel AME Church. He worked for Spring Manufacturing for years and also worked in construction. R.M. loved the Lord and his family. He loved to work outdoors, playing the guitar and singing. He also loved to cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis, Joe, Zadar, and Sticky; sister, Violet Hildebran; son-in-law, Charles E. Fluid.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wilhelmenia Grimes Ramseur, of the home; daughters, Shirley Jean Fluid of Morganton and Antrice Carson of Statesville, NC; son, Chris Carson; granddaughters, Marcy Eugenia Fluid and Areshia Antoinette Michaux; great-grandchildren, Laquisha, Rhaleshia, Jayquan and Keejuan; great-great-grandchild, Amir; brother, Ted Ramseur; sisters, Vartie Robinson, Ola Carson and Margaret Ramseur; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 3:00pm until 4:00pm at Gaston Chapel AME Church. The service will begin at 4:00 at the church with the Rev. Gwendolyn Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions can be made to Gaston Chapel AME Church Building Fund, 102 Bouchelle St., Morganton, NC 28655.
