It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Price. Everyone knew him as Blue, a man who courageously fought his battle with cancer with the strength, determination, and passion that defined his entire life. Robert passed while continuing to work on what he considered his life’s work, his music, something he poured his heart and soul into and hoped would live on through his family, his sons and daughters, and everyone who loved him.
Robert was a deeply loved and respected man whose presence could never be ignored. He was a devoted father, a proud family man, and someone who believed in working hard, loving fiercely, staying true to who you are, and most importantly having fun. To his sons, daughters, and family, he was more than just a father; he was a protector, teacher, supporter, and constant source of strength. His grandchildren and neighborhood kids all called him “Papa Blue” and will remember him as the best Papa ever for his Blue Wolf and Wizard stories and adventures. Also, he was loved for his ability to coach them through any sport. His love for his family was unconditional, and he carried that love with him every single day.
Music was one of Robert’s greatest passions. It was more than a hobby to him; it was part of who he was. Through every song, every lyric, and every dream he chased, he left behind pieces of himself that will continue to live on. Even while facing cancer, he never stopped creating, never stopped believing, and never stopped fighting for the things he loved most. He was brave and never let the pain stop him from showing up for all of us.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Laurie Ann Luckenbill Price; children, Deneen Segars Kinney (Brian), Walter “Skip” Price, Angelique Capri Boudart (Tim), Johanna Joywind Gover (Brett), John Christopher Price (Nina), Heather Nicole Utley, and Mattea Rose Trejos (Jarot); seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Price (Jeff Jackson).
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Herbert Price (Elsa Eebner Price) and Elsie Adams Mister.
A service will be held at a later date at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
