Robert George Rossler, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Morganton, NC.

 He leaves his wife of 62 years, Arlene (Lugowski) Rossler; his sons Michael (Karen) Rossler; Steven (Joanne) Rossler; Daniel (Barb) Rossler; his son-in-law James VanDerHam; his sister-in-law Marilyn Rossler, his grandsons David (Cait) Rossler; Kyle VanDerHam; Jordan (Sarah) Rossler, and Matthew Rossler; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael, sister Adele, and his loving daughter Wendy VanDerHam in 2014.

 Born April 2, 1934, to Michael and Rose Micknlich, Robert was a lifelong resident of the Chicago area.  After graduating from Chicago Vocational High School, Robert attended trade school to learn to be a millwright and welder.  In 1953, Robert joined the U.S. Coast Guard.  After serving with the Coast Guard for 4 years, Robert worked for the Sherwin Williams Paint Company for 40 years as a millwright.  Through the years his hobbies included motorcycles, photography, art and wood-burning.  

 In 1956, Robert met his wife, Arlene Lugowski and they were married on May 25, 1957 in Chicago.  They made their home in Country Club Hills, IL and later in Lake Village, IN.  Only very recently did they relocate to North Carolina to be closer to family.

 A mass of remembrance was held on Friday, August 30 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Morganton, NC.  A private burial will be held at a later date.
