Sgt. First Class (Ret.) Robert D. Mosteller, 40, of Hudson NC died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Born January 3, 1972 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Robert D. Mosteller and Frankie Mullinax Mosteller Turner. He was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church.Robbie was a graduate of Freedom High School where he was a leader in the JROTC, which inspired him to make a career in the military. He attended Appalachian State University prior to joining the U.S. Army. He was in the 82nd Airborne and Special Forces out of Ft. Bragg. His career took him all over the world during his 20 years of service. Robbie was a proud soldier and loved serving his country. Early in his career he was a recipient of the prestigious Audie Murphy Award. He made his family proud.Robbie is survived by his daughter and the love of his life, Mikayla Mosteller of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Marcus Mosteller and his fiancée, Michelle Wellman, of Morganton, NC; a special niece, Kaitlyn Mosteller of Woodbridge, VA; his uncle and aunt, Rodney and Joyce Williams of Hudson, NC who were his caregivers;; the mother of his daughter, Mary Mosteller; his step-mother, Trudy McCreary; and other extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins.In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Joe Mosteller, Vivian Alderman, Fred Mullinax, and Kathleen Ross.The funeral will be held at noon, Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Major Stephen Calderon, Dr. Rocky Branch, Rev. Sam Craven, and Rev Marvin Yarborough officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until noon. At other times the family will be at the residence of Rodney andJoyce Williams in Hudson.Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
