Ricky Owen Presnell, 62, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on June 22, 1960, he was the son of the late James Edward Presnell and Nancy Marie Presnell. Ricky enjoyed spending time in nature, including fishing in rivers or the ocean, taking trips in the fall to see the changing leaves, and deer hunting. He was a fan of the Carolina Panthers and listening to music, especially classic rock.

Ricky is survived by his beloved family, including his wife, Rebecca Gail Wilson Presnell; daughters, Tandra Corpening, Melinda Woody, and Alisha Deyton; sons, Ricky Shane Presnell and Jeremy Deyton; grandchildren, Dakotah, Damien, Dante, Tayla, Dominic, Riley, Jonathan, Journey, Tyler, Traytin, Teeairah, Malachi, and Dawna; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth J. and Dean Presnell; sisters; Brenda K. Huffman, Carolyn Townsend, and Rose Deyton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend and canine companion, Rosie.

In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Stamey and Teresa Presnell.

A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Dean Presnell officiating. The family requests attendees to wear Carolina Panthers or camouflaged themed clothing.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
