Ricky “Bear” Eugene Terry, 63, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Born in Burke County, NC on September 12, 1962, he was the son of the late Garland Eugene Terry and Frances Pearl Whisnant Terry.
Bear was a man of many talents and a valued member of the community. He was an outgoing man who never met a stranger, and he was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed playing Santa every year and helped at South Mountain Children’s Home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lisa Penley Terry; daughter, Candace Terry; grandchildren, Azrael Williams and Logan Terry; step-daughters, Ashley Harper (Herron) and Jennifer Winters; step-grandchildren, Alayna Harper, Jordan Dula, Nevaeh Harper, Harmonie Harper, A’kyra Lucas, Jaiden Lucas, Malea Lucas, and Paris Dillingham; and the mother of his children, Crystal Conner Cogdell.
In addition to his parents, Bear was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Eric Terry.
Services for Ricky are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Lisa so sorry for your loss. Ricky was a good friend of mine since high school. I just can't believe he is gone. Ricky you will always be in my heart.
