Mr. Richard Louis Tucker departed this life on Sunday, March 31, at 6:30am with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born on February 24th, 1968 in Bronx, NY to the late Robert Lee Tucker and Juanita Lois Pratt Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister Katherine Tucker.

Richard was employed by Republic Services of Conover for 3 years, 2 months and 15 days as a roll off driver. He loved fishing, going to the gun range, going to Gatlinburg, TN but he really loved his family. Like his mother, he was a serious-minded person with little tolerance for foolishness. He was kind-hearted and stayed shy of other’s affairs. He loved to laugh, make others laugh and his favorite words were “I JUST WANTED TO BOTHER YOU” and then he’d laugh. He loved his co-workers; OT was his best friend, but he loved hanging out with all his family and friends. Most of all, he loved making everyone laugh; OT, Gabe, Eddie, Shawn, Steven, Mont and Shay. He really loved those guys and appreciated the love shown to him.

Richard loved his grandchildren and had a nick name for each one; Jakeith Javier (Froggy), Jessemy Cain (Fat Baby) and Anthony Williams (Puerto Rican). He also had a nickname for Dominique (Domo). He has a special niece he called to partake in his homecare, Danielle Tucker. We honor her and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her assistance in the care of Richard (Uncle Junie) and to Shyan for getting him to his appointments. We are grateful and thankful to you as well.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Laurie Largent Tucker (formerly of Morganton, NC), two daughters; Jahnay Tucker Javier (Christopher) of New York, Dominique Powell of Charlotte, two sons; Shyan Cain of the home and Colon Largent of Florida, a sister, Juanita Tucker, an aunt, Thelma Pratt, two uncles; Alfonso Pratt and Andrew Pratt all of New York. Richard also leaves to cherish his memories a host of many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church in Conover, NC. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
