Richard Piercy, 62, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Born in Henderson County, NC on October 13, 1954, he was the son of the late John Walter Piercy and Lil Hogsed Piercy. Richard was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Piercy is survived by his wife, Brenda Piercy of the home; children, Alex Piercy and wife, Elizabeth, Joy Finney McClellan and husband, Jason, and Jackie Wakefield, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, and Kayla Finney and Mason Piercy; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Greyson, Harper, and Everleigh; sister, Lu Meise and husband, David, of Morganton; nephew, Stacey Shores; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Piercy.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Denver Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
