Richard Bollinger, 78, of Morganton, NC passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Burke County on June 4, 1939 to the late Louie Bollinger and Lizzie McDaniel Bollinger. Richard was an employee of Drexel Heritage and Curtis Roofing. He loved to garden and loved his animals. He was a comical gentleman who was loved by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin and Clifford Bollinger.
He is survived by his brother, Lee Bollinger and wife, Mildred of Morganton; sisters, Florence Simmons and husband, Arrie, of Valdese, Louise Dula and friend, Larry Glazebrook of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, Janet Bowman and husband, Carrol of Connelly Springs, NC; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will be at 2:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Stacey Layne officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
