Richard A. Mangum

Richard A. Mangum, 79, of the West End Community passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 17, 1939, he was the son of the late Carroll Coleman Mangum and Macie Winfred Patton Mangum.  Richard was a charter member of the West End Fire Department and was active from 1972 to 2008.  He retired as Deputy Chief.

Richard is survived by his children, Kathy Mangum Bryson, Angela Morehead Williams, and Terry Lynn Mangum; grandchildren, Justin Williams, Alex Mangum, Sarah Williams, Autumn Rhodes, and Rhyleigh Rhodes; and a brother, Phillip A. Mangum.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Liguori Mangum.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Chief Randall Brackett officiating.  Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
