Rhonda LaKey "Soupy" Adams

Rhonda LaKey "Soupy" Adams, 49, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Burke Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on March 2, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Luther Mailon LaKey and Ruth Littrell Stevenson. Rhonda was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.She is survived by her sons, Ricky Lee Adams of Conover, NC, Joshua David Adams of Collettsville, NC, and Kenneth Mailon Shane Adams of the home; two grandchildren; brothers, Luther Ray LaKey of Spruce Pine, NC and James Vance LaKey of Union Mills, NC; sisters, Vivian Marie Williams of Gatlinburg, TN and Janet LaKey of Ozark, AK; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Irene Ward.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday February 4, 2012 at Calvary Assembly of God with Rev. Mike Whisnant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to assist with funeral expenses. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
