Rev. William Albert Norville, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.  Born in Rutherford County, NC on March 12, 1926, he was the son of the late William Dewey Norville and Etta Ruth Waters Norville. 

He retired from Drexel Heritage but his true passion was serving the Lord.  Rev. Norville was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine and pastored at Mtn. View #1 Baptist Church for over 21 years.  He was an avid collector of knives, bicycles, and guns, and he enjoyed going to the flea market.

Rev. Norville is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Whisnant Norville of the home; children, Jerry Fisher and wife, Aileen, Vernon Fisher and wife, Jeanette, Linda Ledford and husband, Danny, Brenda Daniels, Carolyn Lunsford and husband, Ray, all of Morganton, Betty Hollifield and husband, Danny, and Barbara Self, both of Spruce Pine, NC, William Norville, Jr., and wife Sheila, of Drexel, NC, and Kenneth Norville and wife, Belinda, of Valdese, NC; step-children, Kathy Collins and husband, David, of Morganton and Keith Huffman wife, Terri, of Atlanta, GA; 24 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Norville was preceded in death by his first wife, Zela Crawley Norville; and 4 sisters, Katie Johnson, Minnie Belle Sisk, Jean Wilson, and Ruth Dalton.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 16 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Gene Self, Jr. and the Rev. John Terry officiating.  Burial will follow in Mull’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
