Rev. Sisk was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Peggy Sisk; two sisters, Sybil and Elsie; and brother, Robert.

He is survived by three sons, John (Kendra) of Knightdale, NC, Phillip of the home, and Mark (Yvonne) of Sophia, NC.; granddaughters, Shannon McMahan (Jonathan), Sonya Cox (Matthew), Peggy Ann Fisher (Corey), and Emmaline Sisk; great-grandchildren, Lanie McMahan, Layton McMahan, and Linley McMahan; and several nephews and nieces.

Rev. Sisk was a veteran who served his country in the Army of the United States. He was assigned to the occupation of Japan after World War II from February 1946 until April 1947. He attained the rank of sergeant and earned a World War II Victory medal and an Army of Occupation medal. He was honorably discharged and returned to his home in North Carolina where he farmed with his brother and tested milk cows.

Rev. Sisk married Peggy Perry on June 19th, 1954 and soon began his education to become a minister. He was first licensed to preach in 1955 in the Western North Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church. He graduated from High Point College in 1959. He then attended Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC while serving churches in Old Town and Hagerstown Maryland. He returned to North Carolina after completing his seminary training in 1965. In 1962 Rev. Sisk was ordained Deacon in the Methodist Church. In 1965 he was ordained Elder of same, serving in churches throughout the western half of North Carolina. Rev. Sisk was active in several organizations of the church including the Yokefellow Prison ministry and other local ministries designed to extend Christian service from the church to the community. He was one of the longest serving clergy members of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. His ministry, both before and after joining the conference, spanned 67 years.

In 1974 Rev. Sisk and his family participated in an exchange program whereby he served churches in Tyldesley, England for six weeks.

He was also active in the Lion’s Club in several cities he served, at times serving as an officer of the chapter. He retired from the active ministry in 1992 after nearly 40 years of service. Rev. Sisk enjoyed working outside in the garden and cutting firewood. He would often help church members with such tasks when visiting them. He believed in visiting church members often. He visited certain members wearing overalls to assist in outside chores such as gardening.
