Rebekah Rae Smith, 56, of Morganton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Born in Burke County on October 27, 1969, she was the daughter of the late Ray Thomas Smith and Dorothy Lane Smith.
Rebekah lived with her sister, Helen, until she went to live at Magnolia Lane Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Michael Ray Smith; and aunts, Brenda Moser and Bella Sessoms.
In addition to her parents, Rebekah is preceded in death by her sister, Helen White.
The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Dr. Darren Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Rebekah was the absolute sweetest. I enjoyed being around her & speaking to her 😔 she didn't speak but was always in good sprits. After I left work yesterday I said a sweet prayer for her that whatever God's plan is I hope she has an absolutely perfect journey 🙏🏼 as soon as I came in this morning I went upstairs to speak to her & was informed of the news with love Pamela Patton housekeeping at magnolia Lane will keep y'all in our prayers
