Rebecca Hilliard Clarke

Rebecca Hilliard Clarke, 87, of Morganton, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was born on April 9, 1935 in Burke County to the late Robert Hilliard and Margaret Conley Hilliard. Rebecca worked for First National Bank and Wachovia Bank for 48 years. She was a member of ABWA, Eastern Star and the Senior Citizens Club. She attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible Study. She also attended Zion Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Durward Eugene Clarke.

Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Martha Moore (Svein), Mary Cantrell (Terry), and Sherree Winslow (Scott); step-daughter, Valerie Kuentzel (Walt); grandchildren, Ben Kuentzel, Liz Helton (Joseph), Zak Winslow (Ashley), Conley Winslow (R.J.), Hillari Cantrell: brother, Robert Hilliard (Lucy), Victoria Nguyen and nieces and nephews, and caretaker, Nellie Whisnant. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Grace Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Friday, June 10, 2022 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church. The service will begin at 2:00pm in the church with Rev. Stephen Pickard officiating. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant UMC Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Amorem (formally Burke Hospice and Palliative Care) 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC  28645.
