Raymond Sidney "Sid" Cook

Raymond Sidney "Sid" Cook, 72, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his residence. Born in Burke County, NC on August 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond Cook and Vassie Hildebran Cook. Raymond was a member of Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company with over 30 years of service, and he loved to fish.Mr. Cook is survived by his son, Jack Yelton and his wife, Crystal, and Eric Setzer and Amy Reid, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Casey Deal and her husband, Ryan, Caleb Yelton, Hope Setzer, and George Eric "Little Man" Setzer, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Rylyn, Cydnee, and Gaige Deal; and sisters, Rhoda Poe and her husband, Roy, of Drexel, NC and Joyce Hullette and her husband, Bill, of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Faye Setzer Cook; brothers, Larry and James Cook; and sisters, Bertha Stillwell, Anne Brown, Versie Hullette, Sadie Mace, and Edith Cook.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny McNeilly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2pm prior to the service. At other times the family will be gathered at Mr. Cook’s residence.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
