Raymond M. Hightower

Raymond Murral Hightower, 91, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019. He was born in Indiana on January 29, 1927 to the late Phillip Hightower and Rebecca Ball Hightower. He loved the Lord and had attended West View Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church. Raymond owned and operated R & S Salvage with his sons and worked at Morganton Dye and Finishing until he retired. He loved working on lawn mowers, working on cars and helping Todd with his landscaping. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Hightower; sister, Evelyn; and great-grandchildren, Keaton and Keylee Robinson.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Virginia Peterson Hightower, who was the love of his life; children, Ray Hightower(Sandy), Eddie Hightower(Donna), Malinda Hester, Sheila Rhom(Wesley), Todd Hightower               (Krista), Terry Pittman(Patricia), all of Morganton; grandchildren, Christine Sawyer(Brian), Ray Hightower (Karen), Trenton Hightower(Sherri), Tristan Hightower, Honnye Robinson(Bradley) Jeremiah Hightower, Nicholas Honeycutt, Clay Rhom(Megan), Dalton Rhom, Chandler Rowe, Alicia Pittman, Jessica Haqq(Shalaby); fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild on the way.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2019 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will be at 2:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Reverend Ralph May and Ray Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
