Raymond Earl Dean, 62, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 after a period of declining health.  Born on March 5, 1959 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of Harold Lloyd Dean and Dorothy Ward Dean of Drexel.  Raymond was a graduate of East Burke High School and served in the US Marine Corps.  After his service, he was employed and retired from the NC Department of Corrections.

In addition to his parents, Raymond is survived by sisters, Janet Oliver (Bennette Wood) and Kathy Radford (Rick); brother, Darrell Dean (Kim); nieces and nephews, Trey Dean, Kendall Radford, Ashley Goree, Kasey Radford, Brenda Radford, Susan Shepherd, and Lynn Griffin; great-nieces and nephews, Cameron Griffin, Amber Griffin, Natalie Shepherd, Oliver Taylor, Julian Radford, and Kristian Radford; his former wife, Renae Davis Dean; and Tamara Crotts, who was like a daughter to Raymond.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Lonnie Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Drexel Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Marine Corps and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
