Ray Wilson

Ray Wilson, 75, of Morganton died Friday, March 8, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on September 2, 1937, he was the son of the late John Wilson and Maggie Causby. Ray retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, including service in Vietnam. After his retirement, he worked as a commercial driver for several different local companies.Ray is survived by his children, Henriette Hensley and her husband, Henry, Barbara Wilson, Jacqueline Taylor, Tracy Wilson and his wife, Michelle, Darryl Wilson, and Bruce Wilson; his second wife, Evelyn Wilson; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Wilson; a son, Scott Wilson; and three sisters, Ruby, Margaret, and Earlene.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 in the Chapel at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals, P.O.
