Ray E. Frick, 83, of Ebenezer Church Road in Old Fort, NC died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, December 6, 2007 at his residence. Ray was born August 27, 1924 in Richfield, NC to the late Arthur and Ora H. Frick. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Olee Earnhardt Frick; brothers, Wade Frick, G.A. Frick, Kenneth Frick, Granville Frick, and Curtis Frick; and sisters, Pauline Vaccarelli, Hermina Ford and Gladys Morgan.Ray was a member of First Baptist Church of Old Fort. He was a decorated Navy veteran of WWII, having served in two major campaigns. He was a former Assistant Scout Master and an R.A. Leader. He had worked for Collins and Aikman in Albemarle until he moved to Old Fort in 1966 where he helped open the Old Fort Division of Collins and Aikman. He was a thirty year member of Old Fort V.F.W. Post 4208 where he had been a trustee and was also a thirty year member of the American Legion Post 56, where he had been Judge Advocate.Left to cherish his memory are his children Terry Frick of Robersonville, NC, Tony Frick and his wife, Linda, of Lenoir, NC, Dotty Kirksey and her husband, Jimmy, of Morganton; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Frye and husband, Charles, of Lenoir, Kenneth Frick and fiancée, Teresa Shuford, of Marshall, Lyndsey Kirksey and Hannah Kirksey; a great-grandchild, Gwyneth Frye; and a brother Sylvester Frick of Richfield.A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the First Baptist of Old Fort Church with the Reverends Duane Caldwell and Randy Melton officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. before the service.Memorials in the memory of Ray Frick may be made to the First Baptist Church Old Fort, P.O.
