Randall “Randy” Stephen King, 64, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025.

Born on March 5, 1961, he was the son of the late Jack Gene King and Peggy Brown King.

A native of Asheville, Randy moved to Morganton in 2023. He was a man of many talents. Mr. King loved fishing and playing his banjo, was a master mechanic, and was passionate about making knives. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, brother, and papaw.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vicky King; daughters, Sabrina Pitchford (Garett), Rachel King (Robert), Jessica King (Justin), and Stephanie Parks (Matt); grandchildren, Haylei Wilde, Madison Pitchford, and Knox King; sister, Jackie Justice (Darrin); niece, Sarah Parham; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at noon in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Chaplain Jamie Hazel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to local animal rescues, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to thank Dr. Amy Cohen at MemoryCare and the staff at Amorem for the care they provided to Randy and his family.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Randall was a good man. I have worked with him on many occasions. He was always humble He was a man of God. I am so glad our paths crossed in this life. I rejoice in knowing that I will see him again. May God bless and comfort his family at this time of difficulty. I know it’s been hard. Thank you Rachel for keeping me updated.
