Rachel Watson Tallent, 85, of Morganton passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021. Born in Burke County, NC on June 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Albert Watson and Myrtle Abernathy Watson. Rachel was a member of Mountain View #2 Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted herself to her family.
Rachel is survived by her sons, Scott Tallent, David Tallent, and Dennis Tallent (Gail); grandchildren, Jessica Tallent, Glenn MacElwrath (Dana), Hilda Pervis, and Megan Pervis; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lynn Watson.
In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Downs Tallent; daughter, Renee Pervis; and grandson, Charlie Tallent.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Mountain View #2 Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Kenneth Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
