Rachel Mae Freeman, 80, of Morganton went to stroll over heaven on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.  Born in Avery County, NC on April 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Singleton and Edna Puckett Singleton.  Rachel was a devoted mother and granny.  She enjoyed crotchet, especially making things for her family.  She loved her children and taking care of her family.

Rachel is survived by her children, Jeffrey Freeman (Tonya), Mark Freeman (Mary Anne), and Vickie Freeman; grandchildren, Beverly Freeman, Matthew Freeman, Samantha Freeman, Kayla Freeman, Lauren Freeman Price (Riley), Lindsey Freeman, and Kelsey Freeman; step-grandchildren, K’leigh Mayer, Johnny Dunlap, Jr., Gary Moose, and Daisy Allen Ray; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis Singleton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by an infant-daughter, Karen Freeman; and sisters, Margaret Burleson and Phyllis Pittman.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Billy Forbes officiating.  The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Ingalls, NC.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
