Rachel Franklin Harris, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away on Monday November 22, 2021. Born on Mar 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Dora Ann Franklin. Rachel grew up in Icard First Baptist Church where she was baptized and where she also married her husband. She attended First Advent Christian Church and later attended Zion Memorial UMC. Rachel worked at Nelson Oil Company for 41 years. She got much joy from her family and watching the birds as she fed them.
Rachel is survived by her daughters, Camille H. Derreberry (Mendell), Anita Harris (Carroll Mooneyham); grandchildren, Minda Daniels, Keely Pritchard (Travis); son-in-law, Mark Daniels; great-grandchildren, Daylin, Zaydin, Kaydin, Skylin, Laydin, Icelin Pritchard, Zakry Daniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harper Harris; 7 brothers and sister; precious great-grandson, Rocklin Pritchard.
A graveside service was held Friday, November 26, 2021 at Burke Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Amorem Hospice.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
