Prince Edward Deal, Jr., 90, of Valdese passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on October 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Prince Edward Deal, Sr. and Grace Garfield Burns Deal. Prince was a lifelong member of Drexel First Church of God and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Deal is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bertha Sue Hall Deal; daughter, Gina Deal Duckworth (Ron); grandchildren, Tyler James Duckworth and Courtney Grace Duckworth; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Deal was preceded in death by brothers, Wilson, Richard, and Gilbert Deal; and sisters, Mary Hackney McClellan, Pauline Brown, and Jane Deal.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Drexel First Church of God. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the church with Revs. Jake Eldridge and Burt Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Drexel First Church of God or to North Morganton United Methodist Church.
