Pearl Chapman Piercy, 99, of Morganton, NC, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Amorem Hospice House in Valdese.

Born in Catawba County, NC on August 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Chapman and Ila Watts Chapman.

Pearl was a lifetime member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, where her faith and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a woman of many talents and had a profound love for crafting, particularly sewing and quilting. In addition to her crafting skills, Pearl was also an exceptional cook, and family gatherings were always special in her home. Beyond her creative pursuits, Pearl was also the family historian, and loved to tell stories.

Mrs. Piercy is survived by her granddaughters, Briana Vandyke (Jody) and Jessica Godfrey (Chuck); great-grandchildren, Aslyne Tate, Shelby Frady (Matt), Chris Vandyke, Ella Godfrey, and Lora Godfrey; great-great-grandson, Zebulon Frady; sisters, Martha Mull and Mary Waters; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Piercy; son, Joe Howard Piercy; and sister, Nell Saunders.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Darren Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Pearl was a wonderful lady. She loved sharing her recipes and was a great cook. We loved to hear her stories of the old times and ways. She will always be with us in our lives and memories.
