Pearl Blankenship Smith, 95, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Born in Madison County, NC on April 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Dempsey Blankenship and Ada Davis Blankenship.
Pearl was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved and took care of her family. She retired from Broughton Hospital after 32 years of service and enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. Pearl was an exceptional cook.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Paul Blankenship and Alvin Blankenship; sisters, Mary Proffit and Esther Osteen; and son-in-law, Billy Downs.
In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leonard Smith; daughter, Barbara Downs; and sisters, Ethel Hensley, Martha Franklin, Lillian Johnson, and Frankie Banks.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
