Pearl Allman Collins, 85, of NC Hwy 126, Morganton, NC, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Grace Hospital. Born in Rutherford County, NC, on September 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Edward Allman and Sarah McGinnis Allman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clyde Collins; brother, Burley, Fred, Charlie, and Mark Allman; sisters, Myrtle McKinney and Mamie Teague; and a daughter, Nancy Collins Danner. Pearl was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church and retired from Drexel Heritage. After her retirement, she went to work at Western Carolina Center where she worked for over 20 years as a Foster Grandparent.Mrs. Collins is survived by two daughters, Ruby Collins Prewitt of Morganton and Judy Collins Max and husband, Thomas, of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Marty Wiseman, Fulvia Hester, and Joey Danner; and five great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Clemens officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Marty Wiseman on Goodman Lake Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
