Pauline B. Mace, 93, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Grace Heights. Born in Burke County, NC on March 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William J. Benton and Nancy Shook Benton. Pauline was a member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church. Pauline was an avid hand quilter and an excellent cook.
Mrs. Mace is survived by her granddaughter, Brenda Rumfelt of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Brandy Kessler and Dale Hunt and his wife, Nicole, all of Morganton; great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Kessler, Chancelor Kessler, Karlee Fox, Sierra Fox, Chloe Hunt, and Jordyn Hunt; a sister, Zennie Dale of Morganton; and a brother, Harold Benton of Phoenix, AZ.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman Lenoir Mace; a son, Ted Lenoir Mace; brothers, Vernon, Marshall, and Marvin Benton; and sisters, Ruby Deal and Louise Benton.
The graveside service will be held at 4:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. At other times the family will be at the home of Brenda Rumfelt on Jenkins Road.
