Paul Harvey Gibbs, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. Born on November 26, 1939, Paul lived a life defined by warmth, wit, and a deep commitment to those he held dear.
On April 7, 1963, Paul married the love of his life, Betty Rose Gibbs. Together they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage — a testament to their enduring partnership, mutual devotion, and the life they built side by side.
In 1964, Paul embarked on a distinguished career in pharmaceutical sales and education that would span an extraordinary 47 years. His professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for others made him a respected figure in his field throughout his career.
Above all else, Paul loved his family — his large and cherished extended family was the cornerstone of his world. He was perhaps never more at home than when he was in the stands or on the sidelines, cheering on his 12 grandchildren at their sporting events. He made it his mission to attend as many as he could, and his consistent, enthusiastic presence did not go unnoticed. To many of his grandchildren’s friends, he was simply “Granddad” — a beloved figure whose cheers rang out from the bleachers and whose pride in the young people around him was impossible to miss.
Paul had a gift for bringing joy to every room he entered. He was renowned for his seemingly endless repertoire of jokes and limericks, always ready to deliver a punchline with perfect timing and a twinkle in his eye. Equally remarkable was his uncanny ability to never forget a face or a name — a talent that made every person he encountered feel genuinely seen and remembered.
A proud ECU Pirate and Lee’s McRae Bobcat, he treasured his alumni connections throughout his life.
In service to others, Paul participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic and the Himalayas. He spent years on the boards of the Georgia Mental Health Association and the Sandy Springs Mission and worked closely with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. He was a Redcoat volunteer at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital and coached and volunteered for years with his children’s and grandchildren’s sports teams.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Rose Gibbs; his daughter Melissa Reid and her husband Rob; his son Paul Gibbs Jr. “Chip” and his wife Linda; his son Chris Gibbs and his wife Danielle; his 12 cherished grandchildren; and a wide and loving extended family, including his sister Franda Stephens. He will be forever carried in their hearts.
Paul Harvey Gibbs was, in every sense, one of a kind. He made life richer for all who knew him — with a joke always ready, a name always remembered, and love always present. He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
To honor Paul’s memory, the family welcomes donation to Mission to Heal (www.missiontoheal.org) or Sandy Springs Mission (www.sandyspringsmission.org).
"Never forgotten. Forever loved."
