Patricia T. “Patti” Matthias, 92, of Morganton passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021. Born in Washington, D.C. on July 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Preston Howard Taylor and Ruth Susan Robinson Taylor. Patti was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morganton. She was a past Worthy Matron of Chapter #269 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an historian of the Burke County GOP, was a board member of Christmas Cheer, and was one of the founding members of the Historic Burke Foundation.
Patti is survived by her children, Kenneth Bradley (Gail), Glenn Bradley (Sue Byrd), Patricia Lion, Marcia Bradley, and Russell “Buck” Bradley (Kim); twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nixon Daneff.
In addition to her parents, Patti was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Fleming Bradley; and second husband, John D. Matthias.
Per Patti’s request, no services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Samaritan’s Purse.
