Oneil Oliver Dalton, 89, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Grace Heights. Born February 24, 1925 in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Samuel Dalton and Maude Painter Dalton. Oneil was a devoted Christian and a loving father and grandfather. He was a member and former deacon at Mull's Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and wood working.
He is survived by son, Arnold E. Dalton and wife, Theresa; daughters, Marilyn E. Lambert and husband, Darrell, all of Morganton, and Carol D. Malcolm and husband, Darel, of Murrells Inlet, SC; brothers, Denton Dalton and wife, Grace, of Forest City, NC, Burin Dalton and wife, Betty of Rutherfordton, NC; grandchildren, Angie Hensley and husband, Darvy, David Lambert and wife, Suzanne, Tonya Hanson and husband, Creag and Cori Garcia, Curtis Malcolm and Lacey Malcolm; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Hensley, Ciara and Cylei Hanson, Josean Garcia, and Hayden, Bailey and Brady Lambert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Smith Dalton; brothers, Osdale, Adrian, Purnell, and Daniel Dalton; and sister, Garnada Dalton.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Mull's Grove Baptist Church with Reverends Bud Jernigan and Darvy Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Darrell and Marilyn Lambert. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Heights, 109 Foothills Dr., Morganton, NC 28655.
