Oma Belle Carswell Crawley, 91, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025, while surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Burke County, NC on August 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Zack Carswell and Effie W. Carswell. Oma loved her Lord and Savior and the beautiful flowers he created. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Oma was employed by Drexel Heritage Plant 3& 5 for 31 years. She loved gardening with her late husband and preparing Sunday meals for her family and friends.

Oma is survived by her daughters, Christine Crawley Bolin (Mike) of Shelby, NC, Wanda Crawley McGuire of Morganton, and Tammy Lane (Gary) of Morganton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Velva Abee and Louise Dale, both of Morganton; brothers, Ransom, SS, and Rassie Carswell, all of Morganton; and her beloved cat, Callie.

In addition to her parents, Oma was preceded in death by her husband, William “Dobbin” Crawley; two daughters, Cathy Crawley Clark and Gilda Crawley Shell; a brother, James Carswell; and a sister, Sarah Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Randy Clark and Rev. Dean McCurry officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
