Odis Spencer Cook, 73, of Morganton passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on September 27, 1942, he was the son of the late David Vance Cook and Etta Lail Cook.  Odis was an active member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church until his health declined.  He was a farmer who enjoyed trading animals and listening to gospel music, especially Bill Gaither.

Odis is survived by his daughter, Jeri Street of Morganton; grandchildren, Misty S. Carrol (David) of Kingsport, TN and Jonathan “J.D.” Street (Britt) of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Logan and Riley Street; sister, Jean Smith; nephew and food carrier, Josh Johnson; sisters-in-law, Lois Cook and Mabel Carswell; brothers-in-law, David Johnson (Sue), Floyd Johnson (Beth), and Lloyd Costner; friend who bought his biscuit every Sunday morning, Ronny Causby; and special care-giver, Angela Leigh.

In addition to his parents, Odis was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel “Bibi” Johnson Cook; sisters, Maggie C. Price, Jeraldine Bevins, Ruby Lowman, and Sue Keys; brothers, Wilburn Cook, Dan Cook, Pres Cook, and Dave Cook (Pauline); and sister-in-law, Dottie Costner.

The graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Christopher Dale officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
