Oakland Dee Bryant, 81, of Burnsville, NC died Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Born in Yancey County, NC on May 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Rexter C. Bryant and Zona B. Haney Bryant. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, J.D. Bryant; daughter-in-law, Leslie Bryant; grandchildren, Alissa Norman (Cody), Ally Bryant, Hannah Aldridge, and Haley Aldridge; and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Addison.
In addition to his parents, Oakland was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Phillips Bryant; son, Joseph Bryant; daughter, Mary Bryant Aldridge; brothers, Johnny Bryant, Martin Bryant, Charles Bryant, and R.C. Bryant; and a sister, Lydia Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Brad Browning officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
