Nina Ree Wheeler, 81, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 16, 2007. She was born November 17, 1925 in Caldwell County to the late Lonar Cornelius Whisnant and Carrie Lee Brown Whisnant. She was a very faithful and active member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She loved to garden and care for her animals. She retired from Drexel Heritage Plant # 33 in Morganton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Harding Wheeler, brothers, Vernon Whisnant, Ned Whisnant and Owen Whisnant.

She is survived by a daughter Wanda Milton and husband Johnnie of Morganton, 3 grandchildren, Michael Barrier and wife Bonnie, Karen Clark and husband Shawn and Scott Barrier, 4 great-grandchildren, Lorin Barrier, Raelyn Clark, Greyson Clark and Ashlyn Clark all of Morganton, one brother, Stewart Whisnant and wife Betty of Alabama, and one step-granddaughter, Roxanne Reep of Morganton.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2007 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, evening at Sossoman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
