Nevada McClellan Woody

Nevada McClellan Woody, 78, of Tucker Dr., Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord while surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Mitchell Co., NC on August 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late David Greenberry McClellan, Sr. and Mollie Elizabeth McClellan. Nevada attended River Valley Baptist Church and Smart’s Grove Baptist Church. She loved to garden and cook, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Nevada is survived by her sons, Rev. Doug Woody and wife, Cheryln and Wallace Woody and Mary Rhoney, all of Morganton; daughters, Carolyn Riddick and husband, Ken, of Glen Alpine, NC and Evelyn Mace and husband, Jim, of Morganton; grandchildren, Tina Bryant and husband, Greg, Matt Woody, Kevin Woody and wife, Amber, Stephen Woody, Joshua Woody, Melissa Johnson and husband, Aaron, Carrie Mace, and Jonathan Mace; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jaylen Bryant; and siblings, Alma Friday, Alfred "Bud" McClellan, Octavia Stamey, Eva Vance, and David McClellan, Jr.In addition to her parents, Nevada was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Woody; siblings, Fred McClellan, Ethel Staton, Lee McClellan, Ray McClellan, and Roland McClellan; and a daughter-in-law, Missy Woody.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Bible Gospel Baptist Church with Reverends Tim Dockery, Marty Bess, and Doug Woody officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
