Nell Jane Saunders, 92, passed away at her home on February 19, 2022 following 3 years of declining health. Nell was born on May 24, 1929 in Catawba County.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Odas Hillman Saunders, her mother, Jo Ila Chapman her father, David Oscar Chapman and one nephew, Joe Howard Piercy.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Saunders Lovelace, husband, Rev. Donald B. Lovelace, one granddaughter, Joy Lovelace Buff, husband Bradley Buff and three great-grandchildren, Brayson Buff, Brenlyn Buff and Jolann Buff. She is loved by her three surviving sisters, Pearl Christine Piercy, Mary Ellen Waters, husband Hardy Waters, Martha Ann Mull and a special sister, Joann Garver, all of Morganton. In addition, she is remembered by two nieces, Beth Ross, husband, Keith Ross of Morganton, Susan Farrington, husband, Raymond Farrington of Huntersville, NC, and many great-nieces and nephews.

Nell was a lifetime member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a greeter. She loved her church. She worked at Shadowline for 25 years as a folder.

Anyone wanting to view the body may do so beginning Friday afternoon through, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at noon, at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.
