Nancy Duckworth Powell, 82, of the Oak Hill Community passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Nancy was born on April 17, 1935 in Burke County and was the daughter of the late Frank Tellis Duckworth and Lucy Smalls Duckworth. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and was past president of Oak Hill Fire/Rescue Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her children, Sharon Powell Minton and Michael Powell both of Morganton; grandson, Gary Lynn Bumgarner, II and wife, Courtney of Morganton; great-granddaughter, Annsleigh Bumgarner; and a special friend, Shelia D. White of Valdese.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. Powell and a brother, Ernest Duckworth.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Rose and Rev. Stephen Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
