Naamah "Nicky" Pearl Howell Franklin, 83, of Mountain View Drive, Drexel, NC, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Grace Hospital. Born in Richmond, VA on May 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Buster and Bessie Howell. Nicky was a lifelong member of the Drexel First Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the board and council. She retired from Crestline Furniture in Valdese.Nicky is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Ralph J. Franklin of the home; daughters, Janice Huffman and husband, Stephen, of Valdese, NC, and Dianne Felder and husband, James, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter-in-law, Carole Franklin of Valdese; six grandchildren, Todd Huffman and wife, Jackie, Jamie White and husband, Pat, Brian Huffman and wife, Cherie, Mark Franklin and wife, Carol, Jarrett Felder and wife, Alicia, and Chad Franklin and wife, Mary; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Harper White, Jonathan and Kaylee Huffman, Kelsey Franklin, Sydney Richie, Hannah and Madison Felder, Payton Huffman, and Danny, Nicole, and Lalia Franklin.In addition to her parents, Nicky was preceded in death by a son, Rondell Franklin.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Drexel First Church of God with Reverends Don Smith and Steve Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
