Myrtle Bentley Laws, lovingly known as Tennie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born and raised in Banner Elk, NC, Tennie was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Ruby and Ed Bentley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Laws; her children, Cregg (Denise) Laws, Kathey (Mitch) Huntley, and Eric (Anissa) Laws; her brother, Clayton (Pat) Bentley); six cherished grandchildren; and one precious great-grandchild.

Tennie’s life was a reflection of her deep love for her family and her steadfast faith in Jesus. She found joy in simple, beautiful things- playing hymns on the piano, sewing, cooking for loved ones, and crafting something new with her hands. Her gentle spirit and creative heart touched everyone who knew her. Though we will miss her dearly here on earth, we find comfort in knowing she is now pain-free and embraced in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.

A graveside service will be held at noon, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Laws Family Cemetery off Old Farmhouse Road, Morganton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Chesterfield Church of Christ, 2855 Old Farmhouse Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
