Myron Roy McKenzie

Myron Roy McKenzie, 62, of Valdese, NC died Monday, July 25, 2016. Born in Indianapolis, IN on March 12, 1954, he was the son of Hurbert Roy McKenzie and the late LaVelle Sumner McKenzie. Myron had a love of gem mining and faceting stones. He also enjoyed target practice at his home range and travelling the world. He also loved his work and those he worked with.
A loving, wonderful husband and father, Myron is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathleen Julianna Moore McKenzie; a son, Austin Roy McKenzie of Torrington, CT; a daughter, Kara Julianna Centrella and her husband, Brian, of Torrington; sisters, Sue McKenzie of Knoxville, TN and Char Zuber and her husband, Dave, of Indianapolis; a brother, Rick McKenzie of Orlando, FL; and a number of nephews, nieces, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 6 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating.
