Mrs. Ora Lee A. Love, 94, of Morganton, NC went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She spent her years on earth praising God and witnessing for Him. Mrs. Love often spoke of the many miracles in her life. Ora and her husband owned and operated Love Plumbing and Heating. During WWII, Ora Lee operated an overhead crane at the Puget Sound Navy Yard. She was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God.
Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fletcher Love, and her parents, Thomas Franklin and Samantha Love Anderson.
She is survived by her son, Robert Eugene Love, of the home, who was her caregiver for many years. He is to be commended on the good job in taking care of his mother even though it was hard to keep her out of the garden sometimes.
She loved her many friends, neighbors, and the community. Ora loved everyone and showed them by baking her wonderful chocolate pound cakes, coconut pound cakes, sourdough bread, and zucchini bread. She would bake and freeze and give them away to anyone who crossed her path. Many will never forget her.
Lee was a leader in so many ways. She was the first female to waterski on Lake James at the age of 35. She was the cornerstone in getting physical therapy started in Burke County. When it came to politics, she would be on the phone calling people to remind them to go vote. No one else could do the job as well as she could.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Pastor Brian Rainbow and Pastor Lee Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
