Mrs. Mary Lee Epley Smith

Mrs. Mary Lee Epley Smith, 61, of Morganton passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Grace Hospital. She was born July 31, 1951 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Fred Ernest Epley and Ruby Lee Yount Epley. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Terri McKenna Smith; and a sister, Etta Faye Pearson.Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Murphy Ensley Smith of the home; sons Terry Ensley Smith and wife Maria; Tracy Lee Smith and companion Patricia Harmon; and Tony Allen Smith and wife Laura, all of Morganton. A daughter Jeannie Smith Mitchell of Morganton; grandchildren, Megan Smith Rhom, Kayla McNeely, Melinda Smith, Courtney Smith, Jake Smith, Emileigh Smith, Mitchell Hefner, Matthew Hefner, and Katelyn Wilcox; great-grandchildren Camren Rhom, Caiden Rhom, and Amelia Rhom; brothers Bob Epley, Jim Epley, and Richard Epley, all of Morganton; and sisters Betty Carico and Shirley Blankenship, both of Morganton.Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the Hogan Street residence.
