Mr. Will Reford Watts, 84, of Morganton, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Valdese Hospital, surrounded by his family. Mr. Watts was born March 4, 1926 in Burke County to the late Zeb Vance and Sarah Ann Watts. He was an active member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons for many years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Watts retired from Henredon Furniture after 43 years of service.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilson Watts, and three sisters, Pauline Hamrick, Ivey Epley and Ila Chapman.Mr. Watts is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Cleo Propst Watts; his son Denny Watts and wife Pam; grandchildren, Angie Berry of Morganton, April Brooks of Kernersville and Kolby Watts of Morganton; great grandchildren, Madison, Aidan, Dalton and Logan.Funeral services for Mr. Watts will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with the Reverends Donald Lovelace and Al Tinnin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Ceremonial Team of Valdese American Legion Post 234. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, 5612 John Watts Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
