Minnie West Smith

Minnie West Smith, 80, of Morganton gained her angel wings on Saturday, July 29, 2017.  Born on April 13 1937 in Caldwell County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Ira West and Fannie Kirby West.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church.  She loved her family and church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Jack Smith; three brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Smith is survived by children Rev. Wallace Smith and wife, Susie and Lola “Sissy” Dale and husband, Doug all of Morganton; grandchildren, Chad Smith and wife, Sheila, Derrick Smith and wife, Penny, and Stetson Smith; great-grandchildren, Brittany Saine, Jordan Munn, Olivia Price, Elisha Price, Macie Price, and Emma Grady; and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Saine.  Also surviving are siblings, Mary Houck of South Carolina, Florence Walker of Lenoir, Sarah Holman of Lenoir, and Abraham West of Boomer.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August, 2, 2017 at Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church, 3580 Playmore Beach Road, Lenoir, NC.  The funeral will follow at 3:00 in the church with Rev. Wallace Smith and Rev. Debra Barker officiating.  Burial will follow at Hartland Missionary Methodist Church Cemetery, 2556 Piney Road, Morganton.
