Minnie Mull Carswell, 99, of Morganton moved into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 6, 2019 while surrounded by her family.  She was born January 4, 1920 to the late Spurgeon and Letha Mull.  Minnie married Odis Carswell, the love of her life, on September 7, 1940 and enjoyed almost 50 years together before he passed away.  She has lived the 30 years since his death being fruitful in the Lord’s work and loving and caring for her family.

Minnie, Miss Minnie, or MawMaw to her family, was a life-long member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.  She was active in many church positions and was a loved and respected member of the Burkemont Community for all of her 99 years.  Her testimony was that she came to accept Jesus as her Savior at the young age of 7 and never strayed from serving Him.

Words cannot describe the loss her family and church family will feel.  Neither can words describe the thankfulness for her long life and the love, joy, and stability she brought to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Helen Wilson (Ronny); sons, Ted Carswell (Mary Ann) and Roy Carswell (special friend, Chrystle Felts); five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Saunders; sister-in-law, Orce Denton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Judie Miller.

In addition to her parents and husband, Minnie was preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert Mull and William “Bud” Mull; and a sister, Maggie Simpson.

It is truly with celebration of life that she will be remembered when family and friends gather on Wednesday, July 10 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and the service will begin at 3 p.m.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mull’s Grove Baptist Church, 5106 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

The family wishes to express their special thanks to Dr. Plyler, the Administrator, Director of Nursing, nurses, and CNA staff at Grace Heights for the wonderful care and compassion shown during Minnie’s last days.
