Millard “Buddy” Frank Hall Jr., 77, of Morganton, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2022.

Buddy was born in Marion, NC on June 23, 1945, to the late Rev. and Mrs. Millard F. Hall Sr. He attended Glenwood and Drexel High Schools, graduating from Drexel High School in 1963. He served in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969. After his discharge from the USAF, Buddy attended both Western Piedmont Community College and Appalachian State University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He then went on to receive an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.

Buddy had a long and storied career serving the community through his work as a mental health hospital administrator. Notably, in his 30 years of service in North Carolina, he worked as the Director of Broughton Hospital and the CEO of John Umstead. Buddy then went on to work 14 years as the CEO of Northwestern Community Services in Front Royal, VA, before returning to Morganton to retire.

Buddy was a faithful member and steadfast volunteer at North Morganton United Methodist Church, a generous and gracious member of the community, and a devoted father. He had a lifelong passion for working outdoors after growing up on his grandparent’s farm in North Cove. Buddy’s lively sense of humor brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered.

He is survived by his two daughters, Brooke Hall and Savannah Hall and her husband, Samuel Harrison; grandchild, Brynlee Sherfey; and two sisters, Betty Hall Harris and Susan Hall McMahan and husband Scott.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his daughter Ashley Elizabeth Hall.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022 at North Morganton United Methodist Church.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. David Rorie officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Air Force.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
