McKinley Rice, 92, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026.
Born in Madison County, NC on April 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Harve Rice and Mary Ann Wallin.
McKinley was a long-time member of Mt. Home Baptist Church where he helped in the kitchen. He retired from Dana Corporation and loved to trout fish and squirrel hunt.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Regenia Poteat (Billy) and Anita Jensen; grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Poteat; sister, Frances Gardener; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Rose Banner Rice; brother, Landon rice; and sister, June Rice Boles.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home, and the service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Billy Poteat officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
