Maymie Faulkner Wishert Traylor, 87, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 after a period of declining health. Born in Winnsboro, SC on December 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Alexander Faulkner and Ola Beck Faulkner. Maymie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She loved working with the public and her friends at church. For 28 years she worked at the service desk at Bowers Peoples Store, which later became Sky City.Maymie is survived by her sons, Jim Wishert of Morganton, Carl H. Traylor, Jr. of Drexel, NC, and Leon Traylor of Mineral Bluff, GA; grandchildren, Carol T. Ray, Angela W. Benson, Jamie Wishert, Christy "Critter" Traylor, Allison T. Dominick, Devon T. Keating, Rebecca T. Charlet, Jodi T. Powell, and Steven Donald Lavoie; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three special nieces, Maymie Sullivan, Valerie Wagner, and Marguarite Pinder.In addition to her parents, Maymie was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Wishert; a second husband, Carl H. Traylor, Sr.; a son, Joe Traylor; an infant son, "Little Paul"; a great-grandson, Adam Benson; seven brothers, Jim , Bon, Ralph, Harold, Clarence, Paul, and Dock Faulkner; and one sister, Donna Faulkner Williams..The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverends Martha Buff Welch and Charles Gibbons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:45 pm. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the home of Jim Wishert, 1210 Bethel Road, Morganton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morganton Federal Saving and Loan, Adam Benson Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1509, Morganton, NC 28680. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
